FGF-basic is a non-glycosylated heparin-binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland liver, monocytes, epithelial cells and endothelial cells. Activation of FGF-2 occurs through FGFR 1b, 1c, 2c, 3c and 4. Dramatic amplification of angiogenesis has been observed as a synergistic effect when used in concert with VEGF. FGF-2 is provided in 5 µg aliquots and qualified in the Directed In Vivo Angiogenesis Assay (DIVAA™).
